Anyone seen Zero Day on Netflix?
What if an alert showed up on your phone that said…at 12:33 Local time there was a complete blackout in Spain, Portugal, parts of SW France and Andorra. Public transportation in major cities like Madrid and Lisbon grinded to a halt leaving passengers stranded. Communications in most areas went completely dark leaving the population with no way to contact their loved ones. Major airports were experiencing massive delays or cancellations. All hospitals are running on emergency energy supplies or generators and all non-critical procedures have been postponed.
At first, you’d probably think it was a prank…right? Anyone who’s read the news today knows that it wasn’t.
Just for perspective, there’s a total of 60 Million people affected across the Iberian peninsula. Translate that to the US population… 20%. Currently, in Spain they have 43% of the population back up and running 12 hours later. However, Blackouts remain for the other 57%. They’re projecting that some areas may be out for up to a week.
I can’t imagine my city losing power no-less my entire state or country. This is no joke for families with kids. Which is why it’s so important to have a plan. These events are increasing in frequency. Don’t wait until you’re affected to realize that you’re not prepared. The days of just buying an emergency kit and throwing it in the closet or garage are gone.
Here is a Free family planning guide and workbook that I’ve written to help you get started.
